#BookReview: Strike by Holly S Roberts #newadult @clubeldiablo

Tags: New Adult, Contemporary, Romance
Strike is the second book in the Completion Series. There is no connection to Play (book I) except the sports theme. Strike is a standalone HEA novel.

Nineteen-year-old Jaycee Shumway breaks into professional baseball player, Reed Tyler’s home, to steal the second most valuable set of balls he owns. Neither of them expect their striking attraction or battle of wills to lead them to a homerun.

Jaycee has more than herself to worry about. When Reed discovers she has a younger brother and sister, he’s quickly caught up in their world of need and heartbreak.

Baseball season begins and the separation puts Reed and Jaycee’s game on hold. With bases loaded and hearts on the line, will Reed convince Jaycee that she needs him to win or will Jaycee strike out and walk off the field forever?

This New Adult book is intended for mature audiences.

Kay's Review

I usually leave the new adult reviews to Maya but she's had a lot on her plate recently. So I picked this book up. And I'm so glad I did.

This is one fabulously delicious read. Ms Roberts has written a book that I absolutely loved.

This review should have been done a few days ago. But with sick children and other priorities, I never had the time to read it in time. When I started reading it, I was enjoying it so much I didn't want to rush the experience.

This is one of those books that I wanted to savour every minute, every word, every touch, every kiss. No word was wasted. Each dialogue, action, scene was relevant and moved me closer to understanding the characters, their motivations and aspirations.

I totally loved Jaycee. Strong, independent and flawed in an easily forgivable way. I totally understood what life felt for her being so young and being responsible for her siblings. I also understood her insecurities. She is perhaps one of the best new adult characters I've ever read, if not the best.

Reed is just so perfect. Handsome, sexy with a heart of gold and so perfectly tuned into Jaycee's needs. Where were men like him when I was in my twenties?

Watching as their relationship developed from the moment Jaycee broke into Reed's house, which I must say was perhaps one of the best opening chapters I've ever read was pure joy.

I really can't say anything more than if you haven't read this book, you should pick up a copy. I'm still floating on cloud nine and I'm not sure I want to read another book just yet so I don't spoil this feeling. Perhaps, the lack of sleep because I couldn’t put the book down is also contributing to my high at the moment.

Anyway, this gets full marks from me. Fabulous.
