#TeaserTuesday #BookReview A Fairy Tale Romance by @ElodieParkes

Welcome back to Teaser Tuesday hosted by Should Be Reading where we share a spoiler free teaser from a book we're reading.
This week I'm featuring a teaser from A Fairy Tale Romance by +Elodie Parkes

Here's the teaser

The white walls of the old palace sparkled in the early morning sun, contrasting with the deep green banks of trees growing up the hillside. Perfume drifted in the gentlest of breezes from the jasmine climbing up the walls. Heavy-headed, pink roses hung from the rambling vines alongside the balconies. The cloudless sky shimmered, a perfect Mediterranean blue.

Here's the blurb

When delectable Thorn Valmont buys an old palace to renovate on the Mediterranean coast, he never dreams it will cost him his freedom.

Thorn is part of an aristocratic family. He’s a prince and must find his princess to solve a puzzle he inherits from the ancient owners of the Mediterranean palace.

Will he find her in time to stop his loneliness destroying him completely?

Here's my review

The title of this book is so apt because this is a fairy tale romance story. A very modern day adult fairy tale about a cursed and lonely prince locked away in a castle, who is rescued by a fair maiden. I loved that instead of a damsel in distress waiting for a knight in shining armor we had a prince needing to be rescued from a curse by a woman. Genius.

Ms Parkes sets the beautiful scenery so that you can picture everything in your mind as events unfold. I wished I was living in a castle near the Mediterranean, enjoying sun, sand, sea and hot princes. Part of the reason I love Ms Parkes stories is that you always get what it says on the cover. She writes evocative fantasy romance that really takes you away from the humdrum of real life and yet is believable. This is an enjoyable novella and I read it in one sitting. Happy to recommend this modern twist to good old fashioned fairy tales.

What about you? What are you reading? Leave me a comment and I'll return your visit shortly.

  4. Hi Readers,
Thank you so much for you comments. I have set a number of my stories as the guy needing the 'rescue' or 'escape' and it works very well for me to write from a male POV :-) Also sometimes my female is the role reversal type too, like Lily is a lawyer in The Winter Girl but Ash her love interest whilst he's a bad boy he runs a shop :-) Then there's Bethany in The Last Time, she's a detective who gets assigned to body guard a movie star. It's lovely to be able to say this to readers who enjoy what I've done because there are so many readers who prefer the submissive woman :-) Thank you again.
